Meet Recap

On Saturday, November 11th the Varsity Boys competed in the CIF Division 2 Southern Section Prelims on the Riverside Cross Country Course. They were lead by Senior Oscar Chavez, who finished 22nd overall, just 7 spots shy of qualifying for CIF finals. He finished the 3-mile course in 15 minutes and 34 seconds. Senior Evan Potts, who usually finishes 2nd for West Covina, was unable to compete due to an illness. Taking up the yoke in his place was senior Josh Ramos, who finished the course in 16 flat. He was followed by senior John McGrath (16:35) and junior Issac Granados (16:46). Bobby Valenzuela (moved up from JV) finished in the 5th and final scoring position for West Covina with a time of 16:54. The two remaining varsity legs were sophomore Christian Saldana (moved up from Frosh-Soph) who finished at 17:17 and junior Christian Guerra (17:20). The Varsity Boys finished in 16th place — just 4 places shy of qualifying for CIF Team Finals.

The Boys of West Covina had a tremendous showing this season finishing 1st and undefeated in all three levels (Frosh-Soph, JV, and Varsity). Their cumulative record was 60 – 0. They will continue to work hard in the off season to prepare for their season on the track! Go Bulldogs.
