Game Recap

In one of the most hyped up games of the week, with both teams in the hunt for a league title. In the 30th minute of the 1st half, West Covina was able to get on the board first off a cross from Lauren Enriquez to Gianeece Serrato aka Gia, who was able to get her head on the ball to redirect it to the back of the net.

What looked like a good opportunity for Walnut who was given a free kick 30 yards out in the 18th minute of the 2nd half to tie the game, West Covina was able to clear the ball out of danger and Marissa Morales collected the ball before sending a great pass to Serina Vargas who was given the opportunity that all forwards dream off having a 1v1 opportunity to goal, were Serina took advantage of and put her team up 2-0. Walnut with some desperation attempt to get something going, our freshman Madison Perez found some exposed space in behind the walnut defense in the 34th minute of the 2nd half, where she received a great ball from Gia. Slightly outside the 18 yard box Madison cuts the defender inside and scored her 2nd goal of the season as a defender. The game ended 3-2 in favor of West Covina. A lot of credit goes to the West Covina Defense today!
