Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Alum to Fresno State

Congrats from Bulldog Country!

Jade Nua always had the dream of playing Division I college softball.

She didn’t get that chance after graduating from West Covina High in 2015. But she’s got it now after two solid seasons at Citrus College.

Nua’s big day came earlier this week when she signed with Fresno State.

“Citrus has played such a huge role for me,” Nua said. “I wasn’t highly recruited by any four-year school out of high school, and I hit it off with (Citrus coach Jackie) Boxley when they were recruiting me to come to Citrus. Citrus has given me a chance to grow as a player and as a person. It has really set me up for this opportunity.”

Nua’s play on the field didn’t hurt, either.

The sophomore was one of the top players in the state, earning Western State Conference East Division Player of the Year and CCCAA All-State honors. She ranked second in the state with a .562 batting average and had 16 home runs and 62 RBIs, to rank fourth and sixth in the state, respectively, to lead Citrus to a regional appearance.

At West Covina, Nua was first team All-Hacienda League her junior and senior years and first team All-San Gabriel Valley Tribune her senior season.

She joins one of the top programs on the West Coast. Fresno State was 35-23 this season, advancing to the NCAA regionals.

“I really liked the campus, and the coaching staff at Fresno State,” Nua said. “They’re a winning program, and I’m looking forward to staying in a competitive environment where I’ll get a chance to finish out my degree.”
