West Covina Falls To South Hills After Sixth Inning Score
West Covina stayed in it until the end, but South Hills pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Friday. The game was tied at two with South Hills batting in the bottom of the sixth when Marissa Flynn grounded out, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. South Hills pitchers struck out zero, while West Covina sat down two.
In the first inning, West Covina got their offense started. Rylee Mirano drove in one when she doubled.
South Hills evened things up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. South Hills scored one run when Camila Melgar singled.
Salina Munoz was credited with the victory for South Hills. She surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, walking one.
Nadya Orozco took the loss for West Covina. She went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.
Sarah Torres went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead West Covina in hits.
South Hills collected six hits. Leah Macias and Melgar all collected multiple hits for South Hills. South Hills didn’t commit a single error in the field. Flynn had 15 chances in the field, the most on the team.
